What if we are always dreaming. And the part of your brain that just rolled your eyes simply wants to go back below to drift around the murky depths where such exhausting thoughts are like salty water in an endless ocean. And when we meditate and make art we are awake in the dream and it is as much a reality as anything else is in this life.
Each individual element was written and recorded while improvising for around 45 minutes. The first couple ideas are usually rigid with raw emotion followed by half an hour of letting go until the body is playing under its own power, free of the confines of active thought. The more time spent in these depths the more lucid the dream becomes: nothing to fear, nothing to doubt.
This is a distillation of several winters writing and recording in an unfinished attic in Walker’s Point, Milwaukee. No samples were used; all instrumentation was recorded into Ableton Live.
All instrumentation, recording, and mixing by Alex Boyes
